Trigo

Vincent van Gogh, Wheat Field with a Lark (1887)
-
A menina comprou um chapéu
E pô-lo devagarzinho:
Nele nasceram papoilas
Dois passáros fizeram ninho.

Chapéu de palha de trigo
Que a foice um dia cortou
Na cabeça da menina
O trigo ressuscitou.

Depois tirou o chapéu
Tirou-o devagarinho
Não vão murchar as papoilas
Não se vá espantar o ninho.

E, chapéuzinho na mão
De cabeça levantada
A menina olhou o Sol
Como a dizer-lhe: obrigada!

Papoilas

-
Alegre Menina

Papoila encarnada
De seda vestida
Alegre menina
Na serra nascida

Papoila encarnada
Cabeça tão escura
Alegre menina
Que tão pouco dura

Papoila encarnada
Pezinho tão verde
Alegre menina
De vida tão breve.

Futuro(s)

Paul Klee, The Future Man (1933)
-
«Who knows? Human events entail too many variables, too many uncertainties, to make scientific statements about our future.
But we can still dream. The next golden age of human achievement begins here and now New Year's Day of the next cosmic year.
In the first tenth of a second, we take the vision of the pale blue dot to heart, and learn how to share this tiny world with each other.
The last internal combustion engine is placed in a museum, as the effects of climate change reverse and diminish.
A fifth of a second into this future people will stop dying from the effects of poverty.
The planet is now a completely self-sustaining, intercommunicating organism.
A half-second from now, the polar ice caps are restored to the way they were in the 19th century, and the forecast is mild and pleasant for the next cosmic minute and a half 40,000 years.
By the time we are ready to settle even the nearest other planetary systems, we will have changed.
The simple passage of so many generations will have changed us.
Necessity will have changed us.
We are an adaptable species.
It will not be we who reach Alpha Centauri and the other nearby star systems on our interstellar arks.
It will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses; more confident, far-seeing, capable and wise.
For all our failings, despite our flaws and limitations, we humans are capable of greatness».

Mundos

-
"But do you really mean, sir," said Peter, "that there could be other worlds — all over the place, just round the corner — like that?"
"Nothing is more probable," said the Professor, taking off his spectacles and beginning to polish them, while he muttered to himself, "I wonder what they do teach them at these schools."

«Entusiasmo»

Com o pensamento na
COZINHA DOS VURDÓNS (onde li este belo poema de Cecília Meireles),
porque o Dia Nacional do Cigano é comemorado oficialmente no Brasil no dia 24 de Maio.

Entusiasmo

Por uns caminhos extravagantes,
irei ao encontro desses amores
- por que suspiro – distantes.
Rejeito os vossos, que são de flores.
Eu quero as vagas, quero os espinhos
e as tempestades, senhores.
Sou de ciganos e de adivinhos.
Não me conformo com os circunstantes
e a cor dos vossos caminhos.
Ide com os zoilos e os sicofantes.
Mas respeitai vossos adversários
que não querem ser triunfantes.
Vou com sonâmbulos e corsários,
poetas, astrólogos e a torrente
dos mendigos perdulários.
E cantamos fantasticamente,
pelos caminhos extravagantes,
para Deus, nosso parente.

Forma e conteúdo

Robert Delaunay, Circular Forms (1930, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York)
-

Biedermeier

Georg Friedrich Kersting, Woman Embroidering* (1817, Muzeum Narodowe w Warszawie)
-
«A pintura Biedermeier no es heroica ni pretende dar lecciones morales recurriendo a las grandes narraciones del passado grecorromano. Al contrario, es una pintura que representa hombres y mujeres sorprendidos en sus actividades cotidianas (...). (...) sus obras son un valioso documento de cómo vivía una clase social que aspiraba a la belleza y a la dignidad prescindiendo del lujo. (...)»

Antecipando o Dia da Mãe

Thomas Cooper Gotch, The Mother Enthroned
-
«A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts».

Tempo

-
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.

Vivendo e aprendendo

Lucy Willis, The white bench
-
«Whether or not you can never become great at something, you can always become better at it. Don't ever forget that! And don’t say “I’ll never be good”. You can become better! and one day you’ll wake up and you’ll find out how good you actually became.»

«We shape our self to fit this world»

Berthe Morisot, The Lesson in the Garden
-
Working Together

We shape our self
to fit this world
and by the world
are shaped again.

The visible
and the invisible
working together
in common cause,
to produce
the miraculous.

I am thinking of the way
the intangible air
passed at speed
round a shaped wing
easily
holds our weight.

So may we, in this life
trust
to those elements
we have yet to see
or imagine,
and look for the true
shape of our own self,
by forming it well
to the great
intangibles about us.

«És o cravo vermelho...»

Azulejo (1701-1750, Museu Nacional do Azulejo)
-
À Beleza

Não tens corpo, nem pátria, nem família,
Não te curvas ao jugo dos tiranos.
Não tens preço na terra dos humanos,
Nem o tempo te rói.
És a essência dos anos,
O que vem e o que foi.

És a carne dos deuses,
O sorriso das pedras,
E a candura do instinto.
