Por coincidência, tenho discutido muito este assunto com amigos.
Comentamos que os último governos portugueses não tem qualquer política de memória e borrifam-se para a história, que é uma disciplina relegada para as faculdades, onde uns professores velhos e chatos fazem umas palestras acerca de não sei-o-quê.
Em oposição, o Estado Novo teve uma política para a memória, para a História e os monumentos do passado foram usados como estandartes políticos.
Pessoalmente, tal como Paul Ricoeur, preferia um meio termo, umas política de justa memória.
